CROSS COUNTRY SKIING IN THE DOLOMITES
The air is cold, the sky is ice blue, the mountain peaks are white, and the streams are frozen. You can see all this and enjoy winter to the full while cross-country skiing in the Dolomites.
It is also not far to the famous biathlon center in Antholz/Anterselva with its Arena, where the world's best regularly compete. You can visit it as part of a day trip. Here are some cross-country skiing routes for you to try.
"Säge – Mösslhof"
StARTING POINT: Tuscherhof inn
ROUTE LENGHT: 6,2 km
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: red
Access to this track is next to the Tuscherhof inn. From here go straight on to where the track joins the Schmieden circuit. About halfway round this circuit the track heads briefly uphill to the Mösslhof inn.
"Säge" – circular route – "Untergasse"
STARTING POINT: "Säge" bus stop
ROUTE LENGHT: 3,7 km
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: blue
From the Säge bus stop make for the circular route at the sports ground and then onwards to Untergasse. At the crossroads you can choose between heading for Niederdorf/Taisten, Sexten and Innichen or Welsberg in the other direction.
Circuit in "Schmieden"
STARTING POINT: on the left-hand side of the entrance to Schmieden
ROUTE LENGHT 2,0 km
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: blue
This sunny route passes through fields and is almost completely flat, meaning that it is well suited for beginners and children.
"Säge - Altprags"
STARTING POINT: Tuscherhof inn
ROUTE LENGHT: 4,9 km
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: red
The track starts next to the inn. Glide through deep snowy forests to Prags’ ski lifts. From here you can continue to the hamlet of Brückele.
Prags Skilifts - "Brückele"
STARTING POINT: Skilifts in Altprags
ROUTE LENGHT: 3,2 km
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: red
This track leads through the beautiful winter landscape to the small village of Brückele.
Altprags circuit
STARTING POINT: Skilifts in Altprags
ROUTE LENGHT: 1,9 km
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: blue
This sunny, easy circuit is almost completely flat and ideal for beginners and children.
Plätzwiese Circuit
STARTING POINT: Plätzwiese car park
ROUTE LENGHT: 6,5 km
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: blue
The Prato Piazza circuit is located on the Prato Piazza plateau in the Fanes Sennes Prags nature park. Recommended for beginners, this route offers fabulous views and deep snow-covered landscapes.
